I have several inverts that I would like to identify Please help

if a photo is needed I will try to get one any help? thanks
Zed

Please try to get a photo. Do they move around? Do they seem to be soft-bodied or hard-bodied? Are they in the sand / gravel or up on rocks?

Kevin

Sounds like a Spaghetti worm (Polychaete). This type of worm is known a very beneficial hitchhiker.

no it's not a spaghetti worm, it's like a web or coral slime. one string with short side strings it pulls it in with short jerks.

kmk2307 it seems to be soft bodied I guess because it is kind of clear they must move although I have not seen this yet. they are all over the tops of my algae in my 30 gal seahorse tank. the biggets one that I have seen is 1/8 seems to have a black dot on the side. I also so have 2 in my 72 bowfront reef tank that is on a carpet leather you can just make them out if you follow the web to its source. will take pictures tomorrow.

Without a picture this is just a guess, but digitate hydroid. Here is a pic:

You can do a google search for more images.

thanks brian, no their not digitate hydroids ( stick with fingers that bends side to side)

greenbean36191 gives a pretty good discription
also seem to have one or 2 tiny black dots.

Thanks for your input any idea on the name?

I think you may be looking at benthic ctenophores. Google Platyctenida or "benthic ctenophore". Don't pay much attention to the colors, since they're variable.

If that's what you've got then they should be harmless. I don't know how to get rid of them though if they annoy you.

benthic ctenophores

Thanks greenbean36191 Thats it exactly, accept for the color.

Have a great day
