So I may be taking a trip for a week or two in a few weeks and I'm trying to figure out how to best take care of the tank while I'm gone. The tank pretty much runs itself right now... I have auto feeders, auto top off, and an auto water change system. I have the skimmer draining into a large container that doesn't need to be emptied frequently, so not much really needs to be done. I also have an apex with flood sensors and I'm going to be installing some float sensors when they arrive tomorrow, so I should be alerted to any potential problems.
I'll probably have someone stop by every 3 or 4 days to check on things and empty the skimmer. I'll make sure they're also available in case an urgent issue comes up, but I'm thinking I'd also like to get a camera or two that I can connect to with my phone and check on things. Especially because I have had issues in the past where the apex flood sensor triggered when it turned out to be a little splash of water and not an actual flood. I'd hate to send my friend over in a rush for a false alarm. With a camera if the the apex alerts me of a problem I may be able to connect to the camera and see if there's really an urgent issue or not.
So, given that it's cyber monday it's probably a good time to get a camera and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I'm thinking ideally something that can pan, tilt, and zoom would be nice.
Thanks,
Brett
