I'd never get SH from someplace that doesn't even have the basic species info correct.

Additionally, based on his prices, I suspect that he's getting his SH from either Sri Lanka or SE Asia where they raise the SH in net pens or vats with NSW pumped in, so they're really just glorified WC specimens that require a full prophylactic treatment for parasites.

I can tell you that these "cheap" SH often cost a lot more in time and money than true CB specimens by the time you "pre-treat" them, wean them to frozen, and possibly deal with their typically poor health.

I know I'm kinda new at this...I have only raised fish for 52 years now but here is my opinion: We all spend a lot of money on equipment, lights chemicals, water treatment, and all kinds of foods and then buy cheap livestock.... and wonder why we aren't sucessful. I don't know this supplier nor have I ever dealt with them...they may be great. But I do know that I have too much money invested and have spent too much time working at this to buy livestock that is not First Class. When you called Seahorsesource.com.....you spoke to FIRST CLASS in the seahorse industry. PS...and Dan and Abbie don't even know I'm saying this.......

Really, reef setup or peaceful community. I would not waste my time or money. What the heck does "tank raised super" or "color" mean.

Tank raised or TR Greg explained it very well on post #2.

Super is sometimes used if the seahorse is a little bit bigger or just as a marketing gimmick.

Color is my fave. H. reidi are sometimes sold based on the color. For example. Black for 49.95, Red for 99.95, Orange for 79.95 or yellow for 69.95. (I just made up the prices.) These are true captive bred ones. Your best bet is to buy the black one. Reason being THEY ALL WILL CHANGE COLOR. The black one will if given the proper diet, aquascaping and tank setup will display any and all of those colors.

When you see them on sale based on the color. Run for the hills. The LSF or online seller is counting on you too not do your research before buying them. After you get them home they will change color based on their mood. Look up some past threads on here and see all of the people trying to get that color back.

Buy a seahorse based on their name only. H. reidi, H. erectus, H. zosterae or H. kuda. Anything else they wanted to attach to the name is marketing sale pitch.
