Is anyone going to change the info on the c-sea.org website? I think it might be bad if anyone sends their membership money to the address listed

C-SEA
c/o Mike Canterbury
4758 Ledgewood Dr
Unit B-7
Medina, Ohio 44256

I'm sure it would be forwarded but for how much longer and isn't John the membership chairperson now?

All of the officers are still listed as the 2006-2007 board members.

We have a meeting less than a month away and it still says
"We are sorry, but we will not be having a meeting in June. We will keep everyone posted about future meetings."

Just hoping that this year is a great year for the club.

Hi Kevin,

Ya know our club web site drives me crazy. It is way out of date and has been out of date for months if not a year or two. If I knew how to keep it up, I would do so because I think it's an embarrassment to our club. Do we have a webmaster who has the time to keep it up to date? I think the basic form, fit, & function is OK but let's keep it current. Thanks for speaking out Kevin, you took the words right out of my mouth.

If basic updating the site is easy to do, I might be up for the task. I am no web designer or code jockey so it has to be simple.

Dave

Dave, I'm glad I am not the only person that would like to see the club do better. I don't want to come off like I am mad. I am just pointing out the possible oversight of our outdated website.

I know it is a volunteer position to update the website but we had 2 people that wanted to do it for us Chris and Paul. There was an election held and one was elected. If that person doesn't have the time to do it then we should go back to the other one and ask if he wouldn't mind taking on the task.

We've got a webmaster, All the club officers got together 2 weeks ago to plan things for this coming year. We've got a good hopeful line up this year. Were gonna bring in Joe burger sometime this year when he confirms back with me, the fra workshop, the food meeting, Chuck doing the dendro tank talk, garage sale/round table meeting, plus were going to try and pick up a big name speaker or to while were at macna. face to face talk is alot better then missed or unanswered emails.

I'm not promising the world, but Im hopeful for this year!

Hi All,

It sounds like we are moving in the right direction, lets just make sure we get there. This is a great club with a lot of helpful involved people.

Dave

Just thought I would pass this along. I was heavily involved in another club that had similar issues. Eventually they had someone with some web development experience incorporate some sort of flash system so anyone with the proper password could change the text such as current events, officers, etc. without touching the overall layout. It worked well over the years as officers and people changed.

I am working on the website this morning. It will be updated in the next few days. Please be patient times have been crazy in my life the last two weeks.

Chris

Hey guys, i browse your forums ares everyday and have made a few trips to some club members houses to buy things. i enjoy your hospitality here and love it when you guys help me with questions. If you need help in setting something up i would be more then willing to help you guys out. Take a look at the website i designed for our Erie, PA reef club. www.eriereefclub.com

i would be more then happy to help you guys get it up and running. Believe it or not its very easy. Im a network administrator not a web developer this was the first web site i ever did and it was less then a year ago. the back end is php nuke (if that means anything to anyone). but then you add users and set the proper group permissions and they all can have edit access and restrictions set according to their login name. once again it is very simple and all template driven. the hardest part is figuring out what everything is. Its all browser based, there is no program that needs to be installed its all done via the web.

im not sure where your current site is hosted at right now. but all you would need to do is check and see if they allow php nuke, joomla or anything like that. most hosting companys do. i host ours at godaddy it cost me about 59.00 dollars a year with an online coupon code. Its the deluxe plan and includes 100gigs of space, 1,000 GB Transfer, 1,000 Email Accounts, free software (such as php nuke, gallery and what not which is free anyway), Forums, Blogging, Photo Galleries and more.

Like i said before i would be more then willing to help you get it started. just pm me or send me an email and i will get back to you and we can work on getting this rolling for csea.

Great Job Chuck, I was just wishing to my self that I had any web skills to offer to help out. I too have been helped a good many times by the fine folks over here and was looking for a way to pay it back. I am all thumbs when it comes to PC related stuff though LOL

Flash access sounds like the way to go, that way we could pass on the responsiblity so no one guy feels like he has to carry the load all year round.

thanks guys! For a minute i thought I was going to lose my volunteer job here at the club. Don't forget to check out the member tank pics I uploaded today!
