website?

Nope I don't think they know what the internet is.

What are you looking for I was there an hour ago?

How true...
When I told Adam that I got red bugs from his coral I suggested that he look them up online and start using interceptor on incoming corals he gave me a puzzled look as if to say that you can believe anything from the internet about reefkeeping.

Anyone been to Rowe Aquariums in Rock Island? I know he has a ton of freshwater stuff... no clue if he does salt or not.

Here is the AE site. Aquatic Environment

No salt at Rowe. Pet Depot over by Walmart in Moline has Salt water stuff, but his tanks are not in good shape at all. Bad algae and cyano bacteria problems. He is running them with HOB filters so they are very dirty.

Adam (AE) is really pretty good on stuff, his prices are higher then I want to pay, but still not as bad as some I have seen. I have found that Adam's prices are not set in stone either on the corals and stuff, if you want something make him an offer. More then once he has moved on price for me.

ROE has salt just no saltwater:D. If you look real hard they stock a hydrometer and a bag of IO that looks like its been there for 5 years.

I have talked to both of the guys that run Pet Depot trying to help with the tanks. There both hard core FW hobbyest but I asked the owner if he had ever had a SW tank before and he said "Yes". I was like "Sweet what kinda of setup was it?" He said "It was like 85(as in 1985) it was a reef tank leather corals some fish." He describe some kind of wet/dry filter with lava rock and a sandbed. No skimmer. Sounded VERY old school. Anyway I hope those guys will at some point turn those SW tanks around I like dealing with them.

Teske's in Moline has small selection of SW fish available and the one I got from them have been heathly. Next to no coral, I think an employees sell their personal frags. It is the best place in town to get LR.

I do like the guys at Pet Depot, but shy from buying anything there until the living arrangements for the SW fish are better. The tanks really need to be connected with one large filter system, he is adimant about not connecting them as he says it is too risky. He told me about his old tank too, its funny where the hobby has gone in the past 15 or 20 years.

Where is Pet Depot located? I've never been there.

In the strip mall in front of WalMart in Moline.

Ouch that site is ghetto. It actually takes away from their store. They have one of the best stores I have seen. They also have a bunch of large maintainace accounts that look great. They need to spend some money and get a site that does them justice or remove that one.

Pretty plain isn't it. I think he would be better off to spend his advertising budget in local reef club give aways and such, would certainly be a better investment then the website.

What about Pet Mart on Brady st. in Davenport north of 53rd??? Any SW out there?? I haven't been there in a few years, but seems to me he did. However, the FW tanks didn't seem all that clean to me.

He is working on that. He has a pretty good deal worked out for us. The new leadership is just going to have to work with him on it.

There is one small display of saltwater that has about 20# of live rock, one or two fish total, and a handful of soft corals. He will order anything you need, but carries very little.

Good place to buy a puppy though.

If I ever want a puppy I'll know where to go... which won't happen! :) I just finally got the one I had to run away and not come back! lol I know he used to have a ton of freshwater stuff as well as lots of aqariums, stands and hoods in stock, although not for any cheaper then anywhere else.
