Week old lion fish won't eat

Last Friday I bought a new dwarf zebra lion fish and it is tiny, I ordered him online from marine aquaria. Having said that I did not expect him to be so small about and inch or a little less. He is doing fine in my tank, not bothering or being bothered but he won't eat. I have heard that it is hard to get lions to eat dead foods but I can't find any thing live and small enough for him to eat. Ghost shrimp were the best option from what I've read other places but I cannot find ghost shrimp any where close to me. Any advice on how to get him to eat would be awesome thanks

Your LFS doesnt sell Ghost Shrimp?
Use the VERY small diameter hard plastic airline tube, slightly sharpen one end (so its a spear) and impale the mollie/whatever you use) at the very end and wiggle it in front of the Lion. It will eventually go for it.

Even if its not terribly nutritious get some live brine in the tank until you can find a suitable live option, you can gut load them too to try to get some nutirients in them. If your lion is that small arcti pods may be an ok temporary solution as well, if memory serve those are fairly large pods.

Try finding some baby mollies.

Good choice since they can take some saltwater.

I fed mine guppies for a bit. I say bit because I fed it goldfish too and it eventually died. The pet shop said the goldfish have too large a scale and probably got caught in the fish's gills. But who knows, I was a real novice then and dig a lot of things wrong.

I believe it's a bone from the goldfish that gets caught in the lion...

Raw goldfish flesh contains thiaminase, an enzyme that causes the breakdown of thiamin. If you feed your lionfish a diet that consists only of goldfish, they may become thiamin deficient. This can result in feeding cessation, clamped fins and problems with the nervous system.

I have never seen a Lion turn Ghost shrimp down. If you can find some, get them.

Mine never stopped eatimng.....
I would feed no more than one every other day, depending on the size of the shrimp. Two is the shrimp are small.....but thats just me.

mine was picky towards frozen food for the first month. (its been eating ghost shrimp though like crazy) I finally got him into eating the marine cuisine frozen stuff and he loves it. He will even eat frozen cut up silversides too. Eats pretty much anything meaty now, just give it time, they can go a long time without eating....they will eat when they are hungry enough lol

So I feed almost all the fish in my tank pellets and occasionally uncooked shrimp, will the uncooked shrimp and pellets work for the lion or what should I try to get him off ghost shrimp with? I try to wave a pice of uncooked shrimp in his face but there is zero reaction. I also have frozen krill but don't use it much because it makes a mess when the fish tear it up.
