Weekend success

Well I changed out my Velocity T3 pump and added the Union Ball valves to my closed loop, over the weekend and everything is running well. Amazingly there was minimum water spilled on the floor seeing I had to improvise on a plug for the closed loop intake. I used a bathroom drain stopper, with Kathy holding it tight against the opening of the intake. I know I sure worked up a sweat, but it was not from the work but the fear of having 75 gallons of salt water running all over the place if my idea for the plug did not work.

Well the next step was to tear down the pump and see what caused the motor to stop. As expected it was a bunch of gunk (technical term) and calcium deposits that stopped it from running. I have cleaned it up and re-assembled it. The only thing left is to do a water test to see it is still water tight.

The fish like the re-mewed flow, seeing they were without it for a week once the closed loop pump went out. I am hoping to add the union valves to the sump return pump before it stops unexpectedly. I guess that depends on the water test from above.
