i am starting to see these weird green and red patches of algae and i dont know what to do. my phosphates are at 0 but my n03 is at 15ppm. i know its high and i am working on it.

green algae might be somewhat normal, depending on what it looks like. It says you have had your tank up for one year, is it completely cycled? Do you have Live Rock?

The red algae is more than likely cyanobacteria. Welcome to reefkeeping! Keep good water flow, high skimming action, and try and do what you can to get rid of CO2 (constant air exchange over your tank, UV Sterilizer/Ozonizer). Water changes are the best thing, if it is cyanobacteria, such the cyano out with a turkey baster or when you are doing water changes. Good luck!

i figured it out. thanx for responding. it was indeed cyano. i didnt know that cyano has a green and red swirl of color when it is hit by kalk. i was trying to kill some aiptasia and it got on the cyano which makes it look that way.
