weird RTN experiences

My recent RTN experience was similar in some regards.

I got a single medium sized frag from a fellow reefer (you saw my thread on it's RTN). When I originally got it, two small tiny pieces broke off, and I mounted those on rocks elsewhere in my tank.

After a while, the larger frag RTNed. I tried fragging it but all pieces RTNED.

Now, only a week later, one of the small original chunks that had broken off RTNed out of the blue. No rhyme, no reason, it just did. I expect the last piece will RTN soon.... I'm going to set my camcorder up on a time lapse to try and catch it or see if there's perhaps something picking at it.

What color was your digitifera colony???? I have one that is slowly starting to color up, I can frag it for you whay it finally gets established.

Thanks :D mine was baby blue with cream body.

anything on your cutters that could have got under the tissue and then sealed in by glue , that is the only other thing in common with the frags. but the time bomb thing sound more true

This is not uncommon, for some unexplained reason this happens, Maybe D.N A., maybe something living on the coral that stays dormaint then at a certain time of year ....BOOM.
To give you an example:
I had a real nice colony and it was getting very large, so i decided to frag it, I have a Family member and a friend with large tanks. I fragged nice size pieces for them both(about 3 to 4" each). this was a year and a half ago.....about 6 weeks ago mine, my nephew and my friends all RTN on the same week, that was the only time we ever exchanged corals. I was amazed when i found out about this. None of our Corals died tho, they all RTN to almost nothing then started to come back.
So i was not surprised when i read this thread and thought i would share this with you all.
BTW the coral was a purple montipora digitata.

From the time STN started they all were down to about nothing in about one weeks time, now they are all comming back, I had fragged mine again to see if i could stop it, but it still was STN'ing but then stoped just as the coral was just about gone, the other two corals that i gave away were not fragged again, and did the same thing just stopped STN'ing and started to grow again, maybe some expert has an asnswer, I sure don't
