Weird sponge looking for information please

I have this weird sponge growing on 2 different places in my tank. In this spot it is growing up the stalks and starting to choke out the candy canes. Is there an easy way to remove it? Will it harm anything if it is growing elsewhere? Is there anything that eats it but it reef safe?

I haven't found any info at all on this stuff.

Sponge ID is all but impossible, but I would remove the coral, and peel, pull and scrub off the sponge outside of the tank, rinse the cleaned coral in old tank water (and toss out the water) and return the coral to the tank. Normaly I leave such sponges, but yours is obviously causing, or is going to cause the coral some issues.

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on removing it but didn't know if there was a natural predator that might solve the problem for me.

I will remove it manually tonight.
