weird temp reading on AC3

I got an AC3 approx 3 months ago and it's been awesome. I really like the unit and it's capabilities, however, the temp reading got wacked out last night. Instead of giving a normal reading in fehrenheit it's reading 122????? I unplugged the probe and the numbers went down rapidly to something like 40.5 and after plugging it back in it went right back to 122. I took the probe out of the water and the reading didn't change.

What's the deal?? Is the probe shot?? If so, that's pretty poor quality considering I only bought the unit 3 mo ago.

Any suggestions??

There was an issue with probes many months ago and it sounds like you may have received one of those; I think the warranty is 90 days (on the probe) so you might want to give Neptune a call and see if your probe is covered. Here is their number: (408) 578-3022

Thanks for the number. Appreciate the help.

Damn. Just past the 90 days. That's sucks. That's pretty pathetic that a temp probe dies before 4 months use.

I called he said 90 days is the limit!!

That says a lot about how intent Neptune is on maintaining customers!!!

They have a well known issue with their temp probes, I have a problem with my probe, but it's slightly past their "standard" return policy and they won't replace it.

That's too bad you know. My chances of buying another Neptune product were pretty good since I enjoyed my AC3 so much, but if their going to hassle me over a $30 defective probe that is 4 mo old, then they just lost a customer.

I take it all back!!

I thought I'd call again and explain the situation one more time. I got a chance to talk to Curt and he understood the situation and said he'd replace the probe. That is what it takes to keep customers!! If you've got defective products you need to man up and square up with your customers. Curt did just that so I must say THANK YOU and I'll appreciate continuing to do business with Neputune.

Thanks for your help Ken.

Wonder if it was a bad batch? My AC3 was purchased at the end of April, but the tank didn't get water until Sept 12. After roughly 2 weeks my temp probe just jumped to 123 and is sticking there.

It's got to be a bad batch.

Talk with Curt (the number posted above) and he'll help you out. After I talked with him the second time and explained the situation with a bit more detail he was more than happy to replace the probe. I was truly impressed by the courtesy and understanding. Good honest customer service is rare in today's world.

I spoke with Curt, he is going to replace the probe for me. Great customer service. This is my second AC, I have an AC2 running on a different tank, that has worked like a champ for 7 years. Glad to see they stand behind their product.

Re: weird temp reading on AC3

Well i'm glad that i made it here cause i'm in the same situation with the temp probe of my Ac.Jr.
But because it's a second hand device, i will have to buy another probe.
