Weird thing with my yellow tang

I noticed that my yellow tang had a white racing stripe running laterally on both sides of its body. It wasn't there this morning and when I checked on the tang a few minutes later, the stripes were gone and it was all yellow again. Has this happened to other people? If so, should I be concerned or is it just a 60's flashback? Inquiring minds want to know.

I have seen this before too. Never had anything bad happen after though. I don't think its anything to worry about.

2 stripes? 1 on each side? It is normal, my yellow tang has them noticebale all the time.

WOW! You don't know how happy I am to hear it's normal. I noticed in on mine tonight (just after I turned on the lights - it went away in about 30 minutes).

I was literally just turning on my computer to ask the same thing!

Mine has a dark stripe and poor color until the lights come on. I'm just running the actinics right now so his color isn't too good. eats like a pig though, so I guess he's a happy boy. I've wondered about that. Good thread!

mine gets them as well but most prodominetly when the moon lights are on. It will also get a red spot with the white some times. I was told a while back that it was because of the lights.
