Welcome to STARS

hey stupid question, but besides meeting everyone, what actually goes on at said meeting? what do a bunch of fish geeks do on a sunday together? just want to know a bit more what to expect. EITHER WAY IM DOWN, HAHA.

I thought I would bring this thread up to the top just as a reminder that we are still a small group compared to what must be out there as a member base in our area. A co-worker had told me that there was a fish tank in a maintenance room in the building I work in. I thought he meant freshwater. By chance I had walked by today and the door was opened. This is what I found:

Cell phone pic but that is mushrooms end to end in a 120 gallon. I talked to the owner and invited him to our meetings.

ooooopppssss! Sorry I didn't introduce myself the right way!

My name is Erik Guzman and I am an alcoholic. Ohh this isn't that kind of place.
All kiding aside I just showed up to a meeting that was through word of mouth, the raffle really helped as well. Its allways nice to see new faces in the meetings as this is a great club, everybody helps each other in one way or another. We are a bunch of great spirited people that love to get together and talk about our hobby.

The club is open to anyone that has an interest in Saltwater Aquarium Keeping. Even if if you dont have a saltwater aquarium but are interested in starting one you are more that welcome to come to meetings and ask about the hobby. We have a bunch of people that have tons of experience and are willing to help.

Well said Jay and Erik. We need to get more people that are interested in this hobby to come join us in our small club. We don't bite! I promise!

When we do bite it isn't very hard. Jay, good idea to bring this back to the top. It is always so fun to meet new people at the meetings and have them join us. Like the other guys said, everyone that would like to attend meetings or even just post here on reef central in the club forum is more than welcome to do so.

cool find jay, yeah get him on here, i wonder how long the tank has been running to get that many mushrooms from end to end in a 120! also what his parameters are and all that other good stuff. i guess we were all thinking it. yes its a small group probably but its a good one. and there has to be more people around here with tanks, we got like 6 fish stores in ep alone. gosh darnit.

holy shrooms batman! talk about a monoculture!

Jay i thought you could smell saltwater. how did this slip under your nose?

Welcome all, to the new STARS forum. We want to invite any and all hobbyists in Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Sunland Park, El Paso, Deming and any surrounding area, to join us here at Reef Central. We would also like to extend an open invitation to any and all hobbyists to join us for fun informative meetings, meeting dates and locations will always be posted here on the forum.

STARS is a newly formed society of local hobbyists that many Reef Central members already know. We welcome and encourage all to join us. We strive to have a totally open forum and a society where every member has a say and will be heard.

Please feel free to start new threads about anything that you would like to see discussed here.

Most of all lets all have some fun.

John
