Its not tottaly this purple under straight 400w 10k's. The only think i have seen stand up to 400watters is my purple deaths.
These are cooler than my ppe thats for sur, I like ppe, But i like others better. This us under 1 250watt 10 k and vho super actinic.
The 10k's are right over it though so they are pretty close.
Extreme corals was a pleasure to do buisiness with.
Can ya believe i picked up the exact same colony yesterday at the lfs. LOL They look pretty close but the ones i picked up yesterday but the ones i picked up arent as nice colored yet, But was in a holding vat for awhile so i didnt expect it to be. They are the same though.

More yellow under straight 10k's with no actinic, Green with vho super actinics on i run 2 6 ft uri superactinics for dusk dawn effect.

WOOT! Those are the bomb! I have a small frag of those coming from Extreme corals as well!!!!!!

very nice, and i would like to note the presence of birds nest skeleton as the main structure for a pe-type polyp. I have seen at least 15 'rocks' at the lfs that while not as nicely colored as these have a polyp structure very simliar and were obviusly pulled from a similiar area. Somebody stumbled upon a gold mine of valuable polyps that are much easier to break off for divers. I just would like to note the dead birds nest's whose passing some time ago made all of this possible.
 
I thought fire coral. No polyps look to be alive, But i didt want to chance it. LOL

so true. i'd like to see some diving pics of this "goldmine" of dead birdsnest skeletons that have zoas growing all over them....

ya think it may be one of those areas in the pacific that had that massive bleaching outbreak last year? or those spiney star fish that eat sps? i think both caused massive square mile die off's of sps last year in the southern indo pacific region. would make sense that zoas are taking advantage of all the prime realsate that just opened up ;)

was that ecotoxlady i just heard steaming with jealousy in the next room? hehe :eek2:
 
I tend to think it took more than a year for the zoas to get such complete coverage.
I think if the divers are smart and pick chunks out here and there they could start a little farm there, and have a source for these for a while.

Thanks AZ, Well i found a colony of these last night, and they were on a huge piece of live rock. I just think it was a fluke that they are on a skeleton, Maybe zoa's are taking advantage of the sps die off, But i dont think that would matter too much because zoa's can overtake sps quite easily killing the sps and progressively moving untill covered.
One thing sps have is the flow in high surge area's with waves crashing thru. I dont think ya would see to big of a zoa pop there. JMO only speculation.

So true so true :mixed: ;) I need to figure out how to get these *pant pant* Must....have.....all....zoa morphs......*pant pant*

Those are absolutely gorgeous creetin! As an aside....frags that have come on that type of rock seem to behave funny sometime so I would frag a few off and put them on frag plugs just to be on the safe side...you don't want to run the risk of losing those...at least not until I have them Mwahahahahaha!
 
i wonder how much i could get off of ebay for a map to creetin's place drawn on a napkin, that says "map to hundreds of free zoas being given away" i bet that would pull in some big bucks ;)

kinda like a treasure map ;) hehe
