Your choice... Its a bad decisions IMO..

Rushing is the biggest mistake you will make in this hobby..
Nothing good happens fast here...

IMO- I used well water for years with no problems. Actually most city water contains more caustic components then your well water. Having low iron is a plus, my TDS read around 300 pre and about <100 going into the DI resin then producing 0TDS. Spend a little more money on the right filters and you can have good success. You may need a booster pump to keep the pressure up. Is this an artesian well or regular well?

How often you change your DI filter? I have less the 2-15 tds going to my DI, and I have to replace it in about every 6 months

A typical vertical DI filter can remove ~3000ppm before its exhausted..
2-15ppm is a large range but assuming 5ppm you can make 3000/5 = 600 gallons out of a DI filter before its used up..
If 2ppm then 3000/2 = 1500 gallons..

If your well water is high in CO2 that will deplete the DI stage even faster..

I was using color changing in a 2 stage Di but typically it was probably every 4-5 months. I was producing a good amount of water every time. I do have to say it took me a little while to find the right stage filters and booster pump to increase efficiency.

I have well and was getting 4 months or less before DI was depleted (>0 TDS)
Since I started de-gassing the water, prior to DI, I get about 14-15 months from a DI cartridge.

I refill my own.

A booster pump is also highly recommended to get to about 60+PSI through the RO membrane.
