that wenneras pic from TBS saltwater i sent to the owner and she said that that looked ike a peackock and that she could get me one of those but that would be way too big ffor the tank im setting up

That isn't a neogonodactylus wennerae. If you look in my gallery you can see a pic of my mantis, it's a male N. Wenn. and he's about 2.5", so full grown. They can be mostly green or red and slightly spotted.

ive tried going to that site a few times and it says can not be found.... any body else have this problem.

What makes you say that isn't neogonodactylus wennerae? I could be wrong but the telson looks a lot like an N Wenn to me. Color is not a valid way to identify this species. And anyone who thinks that looks like a peacock is smoking crack

Peacocks:

Peacocks:

The peacock are very distinct, and the coloration doesn't vary as much compared to the wenneras...

I don't believe I said it looks like a peacock, but I would be willing to put money on it not being a N. Wenn... Perhaps Dr. Caldwell would know.

The comment about the peacock was toward the original poster's fish store lady. I am pretty certain that this is indeed an N Wenn. Look at the telson. Dr. Roy has described N. Wenn telsons as having 2 pronounced teeth with 2 shorter blunt teeth. Looks just like this pic.

BTW, how much money?

the ladie at my lfs said it looke dlike a peacock but no 1 there keeps mantis allthough all are very knowledgeable(sp) about sw tanks all of them hae at least a few years experience jus none keep mantis so i sent her the pm ron sent me with all the diff sspecies i can keep

Well, I'm a college student so it was more of a figure of speach. But the color patterns aren't like anything I've seen described as a N. Wenn. Yes the telson does look similar to that of a N. Wenn. but the shape of the eyes is different and you can only see the bottom of the telson in that pic, nor can you see the meral spots. Maybe someone can get the elusive Doc to give a more definitive answer.
