went "fishing" Multiple IDs NEEDED!

So instead of going out and purchasing my fish i go out and catch my own. I think it makes the hobby a little more interesting and knowing how hard I worked to catch the fish helps me enjoy it even more.

Only bad thing about this is if i don't know anything about the specific fish i don't know what to feed them. Or there specific needs.

Anyways....Here's this weeks catch.

I believe this one is a Orange Diamond Goby?

Any help IDing and specific care for these guys would be greatly
appreciated.

So after doing some research i believe the first fish is a banded Pipefish. Still looking for info/ids on the others.

#3 looks just like a watchman goby
#6 looks either like a jawfish or a sand sifting goby

I'm currently stationed over in Okinawa, Japan. I"ll be posting more pictures of other things i catch and release. I caught two eels the other day but didn't keep them since i knew nothing about them. From the looks of it they were snowflake eels and from what i read are quite easy to keep. Might be trying to catch another in the next couple weeks.

wow thats awesome! what size tank do you have? Where do you live?

I got the tank used when I first got here. I believe its a 55g possibly a little larger.

I can't give species specific IDs, but I can give you generalizations about the type of fish.

Banded pipefish, needs small and maybe live foods
Some kind of sandfish or hawkfish, this looks like a small predator and will probably eat anything that fits in his mouth (shrimp and fish)
Watchman goby, probably easy to keep and will probably take prepared foods, might pair with a pistol shrimp too
Some kind of tang probably from the naso genus, shouldnt be hard to keep but probably gets at least 18" long
Sand sifting goby, maybe genus Valenciennea, may or may not take foods you offer
Pufferfish, going to get almost football sized and eat shrimp and maybe small fish

I was a jarhead stationed in oki for a time. Camp schwabb to be exact. What beautiful waters to snorkel in! I wish I would have taken THAT hobby up instead of olympic class bar hopping!

Also thanks for the info on the fish species. At least that gives me a general idea of what I'm looking at.

I'm also stationed on Kadena. And i got to say that this is a great hobby for the location.

It's no big deal I was just thinking that #3 looks like a pink spot watchman goby was just wondering it the spots would show up under blues.

Beautiful place! Spent almost every day I was TDY there snorkeling off what used to be Kadena Marina. The reefs there are just amazing! Take lots of pictures!

Kadena Marina is still there. That's where I caught some of these fish. I'll take a bunch of pictures next time i go out and post them.

travism I'll take a couple more pictures of him tomorrow. I don't have any special lighting but I'll see if i can get some better quality photos.... and clean the tank glass!

When I was there I couldnt have hated it more,now that Im older and I see things differently I gotta say it was the most beautiful place I ever was. Enjoy yourself.

I agree with Lobster on #2, a type of sandperch for sure. Will not play nice with any other bottom dwellers and as stated will eat whatever he can fit in his mouth. I would remove him asap before the pipefish and the little goby disappear.

The tang looks like a Naso unicornis.
