Were to find filtered water?

Guys I am getting ready to start mixing 140 gallons of saltwater. That would take a while with my RO/DI so I am looking for another source. The aquariums shops around here charge 1.00 a gallon for RO but in Atlanta you could buy it for .25 a gallon at kroger stores. They had a machine out front...I have stoped at several grocery stores around here, so far no luck.

Have yall seen any of these water vending machines around?

The Wal-Mart on Turkey Creek sold DI water in the past. It has been several months since I noticed it. I do not know what they charged either. Lots of help, huh. Might be worth checking out, though.

I've been using water from the publix machine. it's .30 cents a gal. I'm sure it isnt the best water. It's just RO. But I've been using it for a few months now.

Have you checked wal-mart? They have water machines. I think it's around .33 cents a gallon.

How did that acrylic work out for you? Also hows the live rock coming along. Send me some pics of it im thinking bout try it myself.

eyebedam, I like your sig line. Reminds me of when we were leaving the frag swap. One of our members had precisely weighed out several "doses" of Interceptor for my 10 gallon QT tank. They were wrapped in little squares of paper about the size of sticks of chewing gum, and all those were in a little "baggie". I asked my wife what we were going to tell the cops if they stopped us and found it.

"Really Officer, it's just dog wormer"

"I'm going to put it in my aquarium"

Along about there he'd probably think I was so hopped up I would tell him anything.

Sounds about right. I went to a Chattanooga Reefers meeting last year when they had done a group buy on Alkalinity supplement...everyone left with a little baggie of white powder...

I was at WalMart last night in Oak Ridge, and they have a Culligan machine for .33 per gallon... Its in the back next to the beer... ;) Just kinda ran into it...

I used water from that very same machine for a couple of months, and never will again. I had MASSIVE algae growths, despite almost zero feedings and a well skimmed setup. After doing everything I could think of to get rid of the algae, I decided to start getting my water from one of the LFS. After only three weeks of using the lfs water for topoff's and a 7 to 10 gallon per week water change (tank is 75g) my algae is almost completely gone. Nothing else changed other than the water, in fact I actually feed more now than I use to and use the very same food.

They say that the culligan machine is ro filtered water, but think about the volume it puts out and consider how often the filters probably get changed. I never checked it with a tds meter but I would be very suprised if the culligan machine water had low tds.

However, walmart does sell some water that is supposedly ro and di filtered in the jugs. My next tank setup will either be from my own ro-di filter of the LFS. The hassle created by crappy water isnt worth saving the money in the long run, at least not to me.

Oh well... lol I've got my own RO/DI... In fact, I just plumbed my RO/DI into the house yesterday... No more porch water for me... ;) Guess thats what happens when you have over a week of freezing weather...
