West Australian True or False Personifer Angelfish??

How do you tell if its a True or False Personifer Angelfish? Was at a LFS yesterday and they had a West Australian False Personifer Angelfish and the guy that works there said the only difference between a true and a false is the true has one band/stripe running down its tail? Is this true? I don't plan on getting the fish as I don't have a large enough tank, but, I was just wondering. :)

By looking at the fish that is true. The thick black band through the tail is a dead give-away. Personifiers are only collected in W. Austrailia. The waters where the Personifer are collected are cooler as well.

They grow larger than the meredithi as well

When they are very small they don't show the band yet.
This is a 2,5inch specimen owned by jawsee were you can see the stripe coming in:

i think this fish is too small to see the stripe so you can't be sure, but I think the tail might be a little too solid yellow...

This is a contradiction in terms... all West Australian collected fish (west of the Gulf of Carpentaria) are true Chaetodontoplus personifer... those to the East are Chaetodontoplus meredithi... like many closely related species recently separated geographically the differences can only be realized at size... just like we see with Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean regal angels... you cannot tell the difference when small so you need to trust the vendor... and you could trust Kevin Kohen at LA!
