Western_reefers gorgonian/NPC forest.

Yeah the FM foods are super concentrated. I would also add baby brine shrimp if you can. Ocean nutrition sells it in bottle form, and pretty much everything in my tank including the feather star gobbles the stuff up.

Freshly hatched baby brine shrimp? Can you feed brine shrimp EGGs?

I do that. Once every few weeks. Kind of a treat. They are only good for the first 48 hours. After that they have little if any nutritional value.

Since my auto feeder has been in place my Feather Star has moved more into the open. Here is a new shot of him:

Wow! Beautiful Feather starfish!! How long have you had this one so far?

One of the Basket starfish moved to a different spot last night. Here are a few pictures of both Basket starfish. I'll try to take a few pictures of them when they are fully open.
Its getting hungry!

Very nice. I for sure want to see him opened up. My basket and sponge arrives tomorrow. I have had him for 2 months now, I think. Bongo has had one for over a year. According to the LFS there is one species that does well in aquaria and this is it. It comes in basically orange and white.

Here are some pictures of my new feeding system:

Here is my new feeder to feed my non-photosynthetic corals:

Little fridge:

Fridge witha 24 hour feeding supply:

Pump to pump up to the tank:

Lastly the pipe inlet to the tank. It feeds right into a Koralia 6. Note the air pump turns on when the pump runs to mix things up. I also did not want pressure to build up in the refrigerator or a vacuum to build up because of the pump so that is why it runs only when it is pumping.

Nice! Can't wait till they come! So you guys ordered 2 tube sponges and 2 basket starfish?

That is a very nice little feeding system! I need to set one up as well once I get more NPC corals. Where did you get that little refrigerator BTW?

Actually, I am getting two and bongo one of the sponges. I wanted a grouping, as they grow in the wild. Then a star each. They were shipped today!

I got the little refrigerator at a local appliance warehouse store. $59.00. It keeps the stuff nice and cold. You can find them around (Bed Bath and Beyond etc.). If you don't want to use a paristallic pump you can use a much cheaper aqua lifter. I have heard they work as well if not better. I had the pump lying around so....

Oh, nice!

Oh, ok. How many watts does the little frig use? Ya, I was also thinking about using a Aqua lifter. They are very very nice if you have good timers.

have you put a high/low thermometer in it to check to make sure it doesn't have big swings? I've tested dozens of brands on the market and I've yet to find one that can handle true refrigeration if kept in a 75f+ room. @ 74f I found most would stray up into the mid 50's which is far too warm.

They are not fully open in these pictures, but it was the best I could do. I'll try to take a few better pictures later on.

No but the manual says 20 degees below the room temp. It is in a cool environment that is steady at 60. So that means 40. I never make more than 24 hours worth so I think I am good.

They're here! I got two basket stars a tube sponge and 6 plants. Baskets are acclimating, pics of them soon. Hope they are alright without any gorgs (I don't have any).

Shows how big the sponge is; bad shot because it was at an angle to the glass:

Hate to say this but that is "in best condition" rating and not real world. Various factors drop that. I've done a lot of testing of various TEC and none have lived up to the claims.

Peltier (thermoelectric) cooler performance is a function of ambient temperature, hot and cold side heat exchanger (heat sink) performance, thermal load, Peltier module (thermopile) geometry, and Peltier electrical parameters.

Only reason I say this is so others don't blindly purchase and use it in their situation thinking it'll be a stable 20f pull down from ambient room temp.

Well like I said I don't make anymore then is fed in 24 hours. Really probably did not need a fridge anyway. So far the temp is a solid 38 degrees. Even if it varied I would be fine for 24 hours. Thanks for the info though, worth noting.

Here is my sponge Moses. It was two put together and I added the third . My lights were already coming down for the night so sorry about the dark picture but you get the idea. Thanks for turning me on to the guy!!!
