WOW! I'm sooo jealous! Yours have ALL their legs, mine are missing a lot. :( But, they are growing back.

Here is my sponge Moses. It was two put together and I added the third . My lights were already coming down for the night so sorry about the dark picture but you get the idea. Thanks for turning me on to the guy!!!

Very nice!! So you purchased 3 sponges and glued them all together?

Also, you guys should put the sponge on some rock, you can put a flat piece of rock under the sponge. Do NOT bury the sponges base in the sand, it will start to die off.

Two were together I glued the third one. I glued them all on a small piece of rock. Being careful to only glue the spots where it was originally attached. Then a little aquamend just for support. Not easy to do in a bucket so I did not expose them to air. I like the look!

I am having trouble with the basket. He was fine while I was aclimating him now he won't grip anything just sits there in a tight ball. Hope he comes around.

Oh, ok.

That sucks, hope he makes it. How long did you acclimate it for?

I acclimated my guys for an hour and they were fine. Opened up as soon as I put them in. They were hanging on to some gorgs that were in the bag with them so I put the gorgs next to the kenya tree and literally within about 2 mins they both climbed onto the kenya. Now they are not open but just hanging onto the kenya. If you watch the central disk closely, it seems to pulsate, as if it were breathing. I also noticed the bigger one has what appear to be two holes on the side of the disk. Not sure if that is supposed to be there or not but we'll see. Oh and I buried my sponge's base in the sand a little since it would not stand up by its self where I wanted it.

I acclimated mine for 4.5 hours. lol Nice! Yeah, Mine also pulsate as if it were breathing. My guess its normal? I THINK mine also have 2 holes on their sides, its probably for sensing food in the water. Take the sponge base out ASAP! I've heard about sooo many sponges dieing that way. Just get a little piece of rock and glue it there.

Did you try feeding your Basket starfish yet? If so, how are they responding to the feeding? Also, what do you use for water changes? Synthetic salt or natural ocean water?

Here is a better picture. I don't know but I am thinking I could use another one. The small one is the same variety as Bongo's. A little richer in color, bluer and a cooler structure.

Hey Moses, I noticed yours has the same light coloration at the top as my tall one does. They are the same kind I am sure of it. Has it spread? I was worried it was dying. The rest of it is fine. Then I noticed yours looks the same. maybe it is how it grows or something.

I'm sure its growth. As it gets older, it gets thicker and it looks darker. New = thin so it looks lighter. Don't really notice any new growth on mine yet.

UGHH! My sponge is like, shedding. It had all these flakes on it so I blew them off with the turkey baster. Think I should throw in a tiny powerhead pointed at it?

No, mine is not doing that. Maybe it is just a stress reaction. I would keep blowing it off. How's the color?

Yikes me too. That is the coolest looking sponge. You can see the structure is different then ours Moses. It is a sky blue. I have me fingers crossed Gordon!

An update on my feeder. Yesterday, my Chilli Coral was open all day. First time I have ever seen it open for 24 hours. It usually shrinks down when the MH come on. I am pretty sure that means good things. Now I just have to watch the Nitrates.

Well today the sponge looked a lot worse so I decided to take it out for fear it would nuke the tank. I'm glad I did because as soon as it hit the air, I almost vomited from the smell. (guess that means it died)

I'll be getting another one eventually. :(
