Wet surge protector

I was cleaning my fish tank with the scrubber. I decided to take a break and place the scrubber in top of my fish tank. While I was sitting on the couch I smelled something burning. I looked behind my tank and saw my surge protector burn. There is no visible damage and it only lasted for about 45 seconds. Everything still works. Should I replace it or is ok for now?

As long as you make sure it's dry, (flip it upside down for awhile and let any water drip out and evaporate) I would still use it. This has happened to me many times before, and the surge protector I'm using still works. It smoked, it smelled funny, but no problems.

Yes replace it. Once salt water evaporates it leave the salt in the strip to short later. $15 is not worth burning down the house. They are easy to protect from doing that again.

I mounted mine on the inside back of the stand and the added drip loops. This is easy and cheap $15 a strip (or $5 from harbor freight) and 2 screws that's all.
