So, my Yasha Hase, Gobyface, may have died. Granted, he did pull a disappearing act for six months before, but he was coming out regularly and would pop his head out when I dusted the rocks, hoping for food. I haven't seen him for about a week now.

So, in hope of having something that swims around the tank, I went out to get a new fish. Liveaquaria had the Pygmy Possum Wrasse as a nano fish, and I figured that if it was okay in a 10 gallon, it would be all right in a 14 Biocube (I actually had a lot of trouble with tank size. One place would say 50+ gallons, another would say 10. I went with an old forum post that mentioned that in bigger tanks they tend to pick a spot and hover). And I was lucky because my LFS had two in. I picked the healthier-looking one, gave it a freshwater dip with Paraguard, and put it in.

It dropped a couple of blobby, translucent, white things that I assume were some sort of parasite in the freshwater, and it was laying on its side for much of the dip. In the tank, it headed for the crevice between the rock and the back wall and leaned there for a bit. It came out twice to explore the clump of caulerpa, having colored up considerably, then disappeared for good.

It's been three days now and I'm starting to get worried. Is there any way of coaxing this thing out? It's alone in the tank (unless Gobyface really did just decide to hibernate for another 6 months) with a bunch of inverts, who, if it did die, would eliminate the body in about ten minutes.

from what I understand these are pretty reclusive fish, hence why most keep them in small tanks. IME, all wrasses are most all a bit shy/jumpy when first added to a new tank. three days isnt very long, I would bet its just hiding. I would give it at least two weeks before I wrote it off or went looking for it, for fear of stressing the fish if it were still alive.
