Hi,

I am interested in see what people use for a 2 part solution dosing product. I am currently using ESV Bionic and was interested in what others used. Which brand is the most popular and why? How about cost?

thanks.

B-Ionic baby!!!! 13.99 for 64 oz of each.... cant beat it... and my levels have never been more stable.... i used to use kent liquid calcium and kent super buffer... but IMO, B-Ionic is far superior....

yes, well nightly.... :)

Do you think it is better to dose at night? I understand pH lowers in evening.

i dose at night because

a) i know ill be home and wont forget <--- main reason
b) i figure it cant hurt because ph does lower at night...less severly if you are running your refugium on an opposite lighting schedule from your display... i am running my fuge lights 24/7....

I dose ~ 35ml of B-Ionic every night in my 54g. I get the gallon size concentrate and mix it with RO water. Once I got Mg, Ca, and Alk in line, B-Ionic has kept things pretty stable for me. I might test Ca and Alk monthly, but good growth and polyp extension on my SPS is reassuring too. I started out with C-Balance, but through using the online chem calulator, discovered I needed more C-Balance product to acheive the same results. I just got a 90g and will probably switch over to Randy's 2 part solution once it's up and running.

I use Kent, but it's a small tank. I'd use Randy's recipe if I were to use a 2 part on a large tank.

how is the C-balance? as good as the other stuff?

that fish place has the gallon jugs for $27 treating 15,000 gallons

thats less than 1 cent per gallon. cant get any cheaper+easier than that, can ya?

im looking for b-ionic and see what the pricing is on that

brb

well, it look like the b-ionic treasts almost exactly the same amount of water (according to c-balance 15,222 and b-ionic 1ml treats 4 gallons, so a gallon jug treats 15,142 (thats 3785.6 ml per gallon).

and marinedepot has the B-ionic for $28 (gallon each bottle).

so which is "better" c-balance or B-ionic?

I just use it as a kalk supplement (seldom), but when I do it's Warner Calxmax. Good stuff.

If I could find Dowflake, etc. up here anywhere, I'd make Randy's stuff -- regrettably it's not available (shipping) and the locally produced products all include salt.
