What aiptasia?

My infestation of aiptasia is almost over. I could only find 5 or so this morning and I expect they'll be gone soon.

Love the berghia.

The biggest one I've seen so far was a full 1 1/2". I got out the tape measure.

This makes two successful aiptasia eradications by berghia out of four attempts for me. I believe the ingredients for success were lots of aiptasia versus fewer, and starting with many berghia to get a breeding population going. A couple isn't going to do it.

Plus one on the fish list.... I had tried the bergs before with failure but I didn't even think about it at the time I had like 4-5 wrasse :( .... I eradicated the rock with a mutation acid bath, only to get them agin later on.... Really have to never put frags in your tank that come on plugs, I always pull the frag off the plug now weather it's encrusted or not, it's just not worth it to get them.... My only other thought as to how they get in is maybe on a snail? Glad bergs worked for u ....

Last time the berghia took them all out I was aiptasia free for over a year. It was delightful. Eventually some snuck in.

Acrononomus, I feel your pain. I am always trying to not introduce more pests. Sometimes it seems like water alone is enough to transport some things. 4-5 wrasses would make getting berghia going more difficult, IMHO, although Grant was successful with 3 wrasses.

I am fairly light on the fishes, and only one wrasse (male melanurus), though he is a beast. Sucks down bristle worms like spaghetti. Crunches up brittle stars like candy. Can apply considerable force when he hits things to take a bite.

Fish list: chevron tang, blackspot foxface rabbitfish, melanurus wrasse, flame hawkfish, royal gramma.
