What Am I?

These guys have a very thin bar. The crappy pics actually make the bars look wider than they look in person. The bars are about 1/3 the thickness that I've ever seen on a frenatus. Also the coloration is pretty deep red. I was wondering if they could be A. ephippium.
I figured I'd run it by the "experts."

It could be the juvenile A. rubrocinctus. What size is it?..nah can't really tell..can you get a clear picture?

:mad2: you beat me to it.

I have a shoddy camera. I will have to catch one and trap it next to the glass to get a better shot. I read the description on rubrocinctus that was posted. It said that the difference between it and A. frenatus is that the A. frenatus has a black edge around the head bar. The rubrocinctus doesn't. I'm not sure whether mine does or not.
When I bought it, I just figured that it was an A. frenatus with a thin head bar. It may turn out that it is just that.... I don't care one way or the other because I like the fish, but it would be nice to know for sure.

I just had a thought, could they maybe be a cross of A. melanopus and A. frenatus? if not, either A. franatus or A. melanopus.

heres pic of a pair of frenatus x melanopus still pretty melanopusy in look.

id say melanopus in its fijian demographic form, but they are to dark and have a pretty thin head bar.

so CB frenatus it is.

Funny, I didn't think they looked cat-ish at all. :p
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

They are great looking fish. I'd have bought them even if I didn't know they were hybrids. You'd better be planning to breed those.
BTW, I have a bone to pick.... Where are the new pics? Those are getting stale. I know you can do better than that??? C'mon! They're georgous fish, show 'em off!
