What are Acan Worms?

that Fish Guy

Frag Swap Crusader!
All my Acans started to loose color.

Then I started to see White Skeleton.

The Polyps got Smaller and Smaller until they Died.

This happened to 8 of my 12 Acans.

The Remaining 4 (2 were in bad shape) were transferred to another aquarium which had 3 other healthy Acans.

The Bad two died and then the Better 2 of the 4 got bad.

And now it spread to the 3 Healthy Acans too.

I bought a Brand new Healthy Acan to test it out and in 2 Days I started to see Skeleton on that one too so I moved it to another Aquarium and now this Once Perfect a Few Days Ago Acan is almost completely gone.

Somebody mentioned to me about Acan Worms.

What are they?

Does anybody have any Pictures of them?

How can I get rid of them?

Do you dip your corals? What do you use? I only ask because I'm wondering it these "worms" are something that can get past revive? I use revive and it kills lots of types of worms but I have no clue about this issue.

Might be worth a try if you don't already use it.

tagging along to learn, I have a nice acan thats doing poorly in a tank of others that are doing great. would love to know if this is something i should take action about if I can.

I do not know if I have the worms but I am just asking as somemone mentioned them to me and I have never heard of them.

I did just Dip them all in Revive and there were some stuff.

But they could just be Harmless Copepods.

I do not know if they were Bad or Good?

Anybody have pics of what these "Acan Worms" look like?

Bayer Advanced Insect Killer is the best dip IMO. There is a jelly like wasting disease that I've seen acans get. Either way I'm sorry to hear about your loses.

Acans (like other corals) can be eaten by corallivore worms (which come in all shapes and sizes). There are also acan-eating spiders, bugs, you name it. I'd use the Bayer dip as suggested to see if that wipes out the problem. I'd dip all the acans at once, once a week, for a few weeks in case the pest is an egg-layer.

What are your parameters? Any other corals having issues?

Pest killer from Home Depot (Lowes, etc.) A $12 bottle will probably last you the rest of your coral days. :)

It's not an in-tank treatment. It's a dip. Google it...you'll find thousands of people have been using it for years with no problems.
