What are these nassarius snails doing?

Hello, I was inspecting my tank as saw some really strange behavior from my nassarius snails. One snail is twisting the other one back and forth. This was happening for about 30-45 seconds. Are they mating? Fighting?

mine were doing this the other day. i too am interested to know what this is.

Mine do this too so it's one of two things. They're either fighting or... hmmm making babies.

I think it is the second. I seem to have lots and lots of small nassarius snails in the tank all of a sudden...

There are very few things that my nassarius snails do that I understand. All I know is they freak out my wife and I love it.

Did you feed the tank prior to seeing this? If so, my guess is that they were fighting over some scraps or perhaps some carrion of some sort. Mating is definitely a possibility too though.

I vote for fighting. I have watched them before, and if they are mating....they are doing it aggressively (and I think they need to be facing opposite directions to mate).
