Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew what these white strings are coming out of my Yellow Fiji leather coral? I believe someone told me they live in the Fiji and they are harmless. I'd just like to know what they are. They swept over my Pocillipora then retracted very fast. I'd like to know if it's safe to keep other corals around it? My pocillipora is in the picture here, then fiji yellow is underneath this picture. You can see the white strings in the picture. It reminds me of spider webs or something. Please let me know. Here is a picture. Thank you.

More then likely spaghetti worm, i hated mine so much i moved it to the sump and then to the toilet. harmless, but if u watch it... it will spit out poofs of sand/dirt.

Hi

Hi

Hi,
Hmmm...I don't think that's what it is. I have some of those in my sand bed. If it is a species of spaghetti worm, it's very strange. It reminds me of a spiders web and also looks like a clear feather. Like a bird feather. I have the spaghetti worms that do poof out sand. =) This is different. It was on the yellow fiji leather when I purchased him. Maybe I will ask the guy I bought him from. Someone on here said it could be something. I can't remember the name. He said they were harmless and they live inside the polyp. I'd sure like to know about them. Let me know. Thank you ek9

Look in the back of Reef Aquarium Vol 1. It is a ctenophor, a jellyfish-like animal that captures its food with those web-like filaments. In my experience they have been completely harmless.

Awesome. Thank you. I don't have that book, but I'll look it up online. =) I've got tons of reef books, but not that one. lol They look like good books. Thank you again so much.

So do they live inside the polyp? When I google it, it just comes up with a jellyfish. It doesn't show the threadlike hairs. Let me know. Thank you.
