what are these?

I taught I answered it for you in the other post but I will post again but in more detail :D. These are palythoas. The color morph you have is common in waters of Hawaii. I know of someone who found them in 8-10 feet of water with strong surges. So since they are found in shallow water they need strong lighting. I have the same ones and they stay open at night so most likely they eat zooplankton and also they need light to survive because they have Zoanxthelle and they need the lighting to survive to keep them colored and thriving.. The shedding of the skin in normal for these. That is often caused from the reproducing by budding this prepares the body to produce new shoots . It is normal and dont help them shedd it off. Just give them flow and lighting and they will be happy. If you want to frag them just cut the amount of polyps you want and glue them to a rock or frag plug or whatever you want. Hope this helps.

could u be more specific on how to frag like where or which part of them to cut. by the polyp or the lowest part
what type of glue to use and how to glue
if i take them out of water and start gluin I wont know how long to leave them out of water
like can u descibe detailed how u would do it from fragging to gluing.
ok thnx for your time

I would cut as low as you can. Dont worry these things are hardy. I would use a gel superglue like "loctite super gel "that you can find at any homeimprovement stores or local grocery store. I use BSI IC-Gel this is a hobby gel super glue. I like this brand the most and has best results for me. I prefer to pat down the rock or frag plug with a towel and pat down the polyp also. Place a nice size dab and put the polyp on with tweezers or by hand. Let it sit for 30 seconds and then dip it underwater suntil the glue scabs to a cloudy white color. I then pull it out and give it a minute or two to air dry and then you got your self a fragged zoo/paly. I left some polyps out for five minutes once and no harm. Use a razor blade to cut towards the base your cut out the individual(s) out. This is my observation that it increases your growth when they are fragged.

just a few more questions
what should I expect when i cut it
will it ooze out a liquid or something?

also when u say"Let it sit for 30 seconds and then dip it underwater suntil the glue scabs to a cloudy white color"
are u talking about the tank water or another water
if another please explain whats in the other water

If it is a clean cut at the base you wont see any guts or ooze. Sometimes its hard to cut the base and you might see this. Just put the piece under some flow and it will be ok. Also do the cuts underwater in the tank or in a bowl. You dont want palytoxins going in your eye or mouth. Some people use gloves. I admit I dont. If you have sensitive skin I recommend you use them. When I dip the frag so it scabs. I dip it in my tank. If your not comfortable with that take a bowl of water out your tank and dip the piece in the bowl. Dont be alarmed if you see a floatin film/residue come off into your tank from the glue when you dip it. It has never caused harm for me.

twon8, i think we made a good find. looks as if they are popping up all over the place at the same time (just like the blue/red palys from atlantis in cali). http://www.pacificeastaquaculture.com/Detail.aspx?ID=2847 would anyone here pay 129 for that frag? just curious...

I just picked up a frag today, that looks very similiar to everyone who has posted thus far.

Mine is almost identical to the ones in the link above: My frag/colony is three times bigger and my coral was three times cheaper than the one in the link (Although I traded for it anyway).

yes,my uncle is going to take me to Home Depot today to buy my glue.
Im probally going to look for the BSI IC-Gel mbunaman was talking about. If not then Ill get the loctite gel.
If theres time I might start fragging tonight.
