I had been running 2 banks of 27watt 6700K linear quad PC's, I've recently lost a bulb and don't seem to be able to find a replacement for my Panasonic FML27E67's. I had seen a thread a while back where someone was assembling fixtures based on some Home Depot light kits.
With one bank down my macroalgae is thinning and it's time to look for a new solution.

I use a cheap HD fuge light. Simple clip-on fixture ($5), and an 18w compact flourescent bulb ($8?). I have no idea what kelvin rating is on the bulb, but my chaeto seems happy with it.

i use a brand "lights of america" from the w-mart. it is 6500k and i buy them two for 5 bucks when they went on clearance. they seem to be working fine. i use a clamp on light from home depot as the fixture.

Im using a 65 watt Lights of America Fixture. works awesome! i have some xenia down there, and its strarting to spread.

I run it in reverse to my tank lighting.

Dean, I use the Light of America outdoor flood light I think it is 96w, I have a brand new in the garage I could give you a part number if need.
In my case this light has work the best, it comes with a water proof cover and the light makes the algae grows very well

Hey Rogger is that a PC type of flourescent 96w bulb?

I use the DOA 65w here as well. Cheato took off once I changed to this light!!! I was using the Mini-Aqualight that was 18w before this.

I thank you all for your help and information. I have picked up one of the 65w flood fixtures and I think it will "do the trick". If I mount it at about 16" above the surface of the water will that be too high, or far away from the water?

here's wat i decided to do

here's wat i decided to do

Maybe overkill but I wanted my fuge to work-i will run it 24/7
pics- At the moment i forgot the brand but-it works esentially like a t5 fan and two bulbs- I replaced one blue and have two whites.
