Looking to see what the majority of reefkeepers are keeping there tanks at. Trying to see where most are at keeping there alk at. I run mine at 8 to 9 and that's because I am carbon dosing prodibio products. All seems good for now but was thinking maybe I should be lower. Well in any case thanks for taking the poll and let's see the results.

I shoot for 8.0 - 8.5 dKH. I don't dose much, concerning bacteria. I don't dose any kind of carbon source. But, my tank is on the cleaner side; running around 9.0 seems to irritate the corals/stunt growth, in my tank.

I run mine at about 7.5 dkh give or take. I also carbon dose in the form of vinegar. Should add pics of tanks with the poll lol.

Here is mine

9.5 - 10 with no more than .5 variation between water changes or as a result of water changes. That's where I land by running enough KW to top off. I have great growth and color.

Now I aim for 7-7.5. I used to do around 8.5-9. Ever since starting vinegar/vodka, any time it creeps above 8 I get burnt tips and STN.

That's interesting about the lower alk when carbon dosing. I am carbon dosing and maybe lowering it would be better. I don't know what affects lower alk have when carbon dosing but I have read this before. I am full blow prodibio right now and I have not seen anything on there web page that says to run lower alk. Should I consider lowering to 7.5 to 8 ?

Thanks
Michael

Prodibio doesn't seem to be as 'agressive' as other carbon/bacteria dosing systems, in my experience. It kept things low, but not extremely low. I preferred it. That being said, when I ran it on my 65g, my alk was usually 8 - 9 dKH. No tissue recession or burnt tips. Growth and color were both very good. This is just my experience and opinion.

Thanks for the advice. Right now everything looks good and my alk today was 8.96
