What behavior do clowns show before going into the nem?

I have a pair of Occs, one has been in my tank for a few months. I added another on Thursday. I have a E. Quad. The one that has been in my tank for a few months showed interest in it by "sucking" on the tips but never dove in. I moved my nem because where it was, was being over taken by grape calurpa :headwalls: I moved it to the side of the tank where they both hang out. They have been hovering over it ever since. Is that a good sign that they may take the dive? I know its not the natural host for them, but i didnt know what the signs are if they were going to.

Mine just kept looking at it and getting closer and closer, hovering over it, beside and under it, and nipping at the tips. After a few days they were in. There was a lot of small visits and I could swear there was some slight stinging going on as the clowns would shoot out and rub off the glass as their slime built up a resistance and then eventually that behavior stopped and the female spends the night in it while the male went in one day but I haven't seen him in since. So he sleeps alone.

I'm in the same boat. I got a RBTA about three days ago. My male Ocellaris shows some interest. He will get to about 4 inches from the anemone and does a sexy dance (like when he is courting the female) but doesn't get any closer. The female hasn't shown any interest at all yet. Like Brian said, I know its not the natural host so nothing's guaranteed. I'm just wondering how long it took for those that did have success paring Ocellaris Clowns with E. Quad.?
Thanks

Well I am happy to report that my pair has taken the dive! They are not in constanly but they will go in and out all day.

Bta and maroon

My maroon clownfish took the plunge and never looked back. This happened within minutes of introducing my green bta. In 4 weeks I don't think the clown has gone beyond a foot away from it.
