I think that's a "blackback butterfly" or Chaetodon melannotus.

Great fish. Just one of the worst with corals. He's eaten just about every coral I've tried in the tank.

i'm looking for 2 butterflyfish for a semi-aggressive, crowded FOWLR 180g?

emperor juvie, blueface angel, powder brown..... with in QT- pbt, chrysurus angel
all fish in the 4-6" range.

any suggestions on 2 butterflys? i might do 2 pairs and that will finish off my livestock.

i have in mind, the blackback, dot-and-dash, pelewensis, Meyer's(i really like, but dont see them for sale anywhere.

Blackbacks are my favorite easy to feed to cause they eat everything and I mean everything that fits in their mouth or can be made to fit.

okay.. sounds like per this thread, the meyer's are really hard to come by and hard to keep. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1700329

i think i'll try a pair of the blackback. bluezoo has the blackback and its only guaranteed live on arrival, plus the size description is 1.5-3.5". 3"+ is nice, but if its 1.5", thats a little too small and delicate.

i'd also like to try a 2nd pair of something else.

can a sub 3" butterflyfish make it in my DT? the fish in my DT are very aggressive eaters. it doesnt take them but a split second to clean house on food.
