Yeah that sucks. Paying $1500 for rent, $800 for utilities, and having to pay employees salaries. That really sucks. That’s what comes with the territory when you own a business. Personally, that’s why I couldn’t believe he was moving to a larger store. All it is, is a bigger store with the same stuff in it. It is just more rent, utilities, more tanks to maintain, and more people to pay. I would like it if Rob would set up a kiosk in the mall and have 4 tanks that he sells corals and fish out of. If you want a tank or any high end skimmers you would have to order through him anyway. As far as MAC certification, those fish are not. If they were MAC certified they would have MAC stickers all over the fish tanks (haven’t been in for a while so maybe they do). Collection practices have come a long way. People have realized that cyanide fishing as well as using dynamite to stun the fish is not a good practice. Marine cultured corals, tank raised, and tank bred fish have come a long way(still have a ways to go). Unfortunately, it’s the private sector having to do that research. It is no longer done by our public aquariums. As far as quality of fish is concerned, all of the fish come from the same place. 50% of them don’t make it from the ocean to the store shelves. Right after Rob picks up his boxes, Clarks picks up theirs. They come on the same exact plane. The only thing different from Robs tanks compared with others is that he runs copper. You will find blue rocks in his tanks some times. Don’t get me wrong, I would love Rob to make a good living. He has never told me otherwise every time I have asked he told me that things were going incredible. They must be because he has a bigger store, more water, more employees, etc.. Now I hear he had a fresh water store on the Westside. Why would they not be under the same roof. Just curious? Hoooo “because fresh water is for wimps” LOL
