what causes cloudy water

My tank got a little cloudy last night, all my parameters are normal. Any ideas what could cause sudden cloudiness without a spike in any parameters. Tank was been up for almost a year.

I forgot about kicking up sand, might be the new clown i got. Its happened twice since he was added.

i get this white film inside my return lines, and sometimes when the pump restarts it breaks loose, clouding the water, but it quickly goes away, 1-2 days max. just a thought

Actually i haven't seen any fish stirring up the sand but there are a couple places where the sand is freshly stirred up.

Im leaning towards the new fish. Got it last Sunday. Tuesday the tank got a little cloudy for a day then was clear as normal til today and it got cloudy again

Bacteria usually caused by a swing in nutrients, for example something dies and you get some ammonia and all of a sudden bam. Also from carbon dosing, new tank syndrome, stirring the sand and releasing a little too much and if you're like me, introducing an opportunistic plague like bacteria.

Bacteria is a more diffuse cloudiness, while precipitation and kicked up sand looks grainy.
