what causes the Co2 solenoid to overheat

Good morning.
I am new to calcium reactor. I wonder whether the heating of the co2 solenoid valve depends on the length of time the valve is open/on, or off-on swtiching.
what would be the best strategy to prolong the life of the solenoid?
please advise.
Thank you

Never owned a calcium reactor, but from the experience of my planted tank i can say that almost ever solenoid valve gets hot, i have one one my CO2 cylinger since last 7-8 years and it gets real hot. So i don't think it's something to worry.

Yes if the coil is energized its creating heat..

Based on the type of control device and type of solenoid sometimes people utilize techniques like current reduction to lower power requirements/heat. (Pickup vs holding current,etc...)

And yes.. Often times they do run hot but thats not an issue provided you are driving them with their intended voltage.

As stated above, solenoid stay very hot.
After a few months they will jam, unscrew and lubricate with a drop of vegetable oil.

Best way is to adjust your reactor to stay on 24/7 without turn the solenoid on and off. The more it turn on n off the faster it wear out.
