What clown?

I have a pair of maroons in my 400 w/a BTA. I added a large neon green carpet yesterday and he took hold in the spot I placed him. 1st, will the maroons adopt the carpet?, 2nd if not, what sp. Of clowns would best be added?

Natural host anemone for Maroons, BTA. It would not be uncommon for them to jump from species to species calling more then one anemone/anemone cluster home depending on the tank environment.

With maroons, I tend to avoid adding any other clown species. Maroons can be quite aggressive with little notice.

$.02 worth or less: Without knowing much about your tank, I might consider across species lines toward a mature pair of skunks for the carpet. IME: Skunks can be quite territorial as well, are quite adept at avoiding predatory attacks, host many anemone species in captivity, and tend to claim a spot and stay there.

Thanks Scott. So far. the maroons haven't even ventured near the carpet. However, when I placed the BTA originally, they were jumping onto it in minutes.

Yep, maroons might even jump into the shipping bag with a BTA, they are just that instinctively attracted :D

Somewhere in the vast reaches of RC, I have some pictures of my old 300gal. The maroon pair in there would bounce from BTA, to Crispa, to Haddoni, etc. They had their preference, but were not too picky.
