What corals can I keep with this?

My math might be wrong but it looks like a 70 gal to me (48" wide x 16" tall x 21" deep).

You should be able to keep just about anything in it with 4 T5 bulbs over it. You'd probably need to keep SPS like acros in the top 1/2 or 1/3. I have 4 bulbs over an 18" deep tank and have acros doing really well in the top 1/2 (a few that are lower do ok but just don't grow as fast), other SPS (e.g. Montipora and birdsnest) do well even lower down and my Crocea clam is doing great on the sandbed.

ctsieber - I don't know yet - still planning. How much do you think I'll need?

larryl - thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. Btw, the tank is a rio 240 so it's capacity is 240l = 50gallons (roughly).

but if you go to the deltec website it says the mc500 is for tanks of 360l/80gall. Using the conversion calculator this is English gallons (360l = 95USgall).

Which Deltec site did you go to? http://www.deltecusa.us/ says the MC500 is good for 100gal, http://www.deltecaquariumsolutions.com/ (UK-based) says it's good for "360 Ltrs (80 gallons)".

Ah - I'm from the UK so I'm using non-US gallons. For me 240l = 52.8 gall

Does everyone here use US gallons?

I think the vast majority of users here are based in the US, so it's probably safe to assume people are talking about US gallons if they don't mention otherwise.

You could update your profile to show your location in the UK, then maybe that would trigger people to at least consider that there might be some units confusion when talking about measurements.

Hey - maybe we should all just use the metric system! A liter is a liter pretty much anywhere, right? ... On second thought, we already tried that here in the US in the 70's and it didn't go over well at all... :)

In england we use litres much more (or should i spell it liters 4 u guys). Anyways, it shouldnt make too much difference with a 240l/50ukgall/60usgall tank.
