Went down to my tank and so a piece of my BTA sitting on the sand. Looked all over the tank, cannot find any other part of the BTA. Placed the remaining half in an acrylic enclosure to see whether it might recover.
Background, this is a 6 in BTA that has been in my tank for 3 weeks. Doing well fully opened. I had noticed that 6in. maroon clown was pretty rough with it, but it seemed to be doing okay so I did not separate them. The only other fish in the tank is a 2 in. maroon clownfish and a 2 in. coral beauty angelfish. All water parameters are within the normal range for a reef aquarium. The only other livestock are 2 hermit crabs, star polyps, green zoanthids, and a mini carpet anemone. All powerheads and intakes are covered, and I did not find any part of the anemone in my filter sock.
I am left thinking that one of the fish in my tank attacked and ate part of the anemone. The only fish that is big enough to do this is the 6in. maroon clown. Is this possible? Has this happen to anyone else? Am i fingering the wrong culprit?
BTW, this cannot be a split because I cannot find what should the the larger fragment anywhere. The piece I have left is an inch.
