What did you do yesterday?

Let me tell you what I did...

After watching the wind blow 20-25 knots for almost two months......and
trying to dive in absolute ZERO visibility here in the Gulf.....I saw there
was going to be a one day break in the weather in the Keys.....so.....I
loaded up the boat and truck with all the essentials, got Susie's food and
water and hit the highway at 3:20 am yesterday morning.....for the wonderful
330 mile drive to the keys.

Well the fog was so thick I could hardly see on I-75......and when you are a
rolling package of 12,000 pounds, boat , motor trailer and truck, makes it a
white knuckle drive to say the least.

After about six hours of driving...I finally made it to Key largo and the
top, of the keys....another 20 miles and I was at the boat ramp.

Launched the boat, was a nice day, I could SEE the bottom...a first in
months for me. A 10 mile ride out to the aquaculture site and I could SEE
the bottom there and the rock on the bottom.

Determined to fill the boat up I took 3 tanks of air, made three dives and
loaded about 1600# of rock on the boat.
But while I was on the last dive, the front hit there, and the seas went
from one foot to four to six feet, making it very fun to pull the rock, fill
the barrels, and get back to shore ASAP!

So I hit the dock at about 1pm, loaded the boat on the trailer, and decided
to be crazy and head for home.....of course the Bridge at Jewfish creek in
Key largo was up, and STUCK...open, that took about 45 min for them to
fix...the traffic on a Friday afternoon, at spring break was real special
also.

Made my way up US-1...amid traffic gridlock of Miami, and then on to highway
27.....the 'back' way home as I knew the interstates around Ft. Myers and
Naples would be horrendous.

And sure enough, listening to the truckers on the CB, there was numerous
accidents and closures of I-75 on the west coast.

My GPS was telling me I would be home at 7:41....but the sheets of rain that
came, made it almost impossible to see, but I trudged on.....and
on...another 330 miles back to Tampa.....when I smelled 'Tire"......and
smoke from my trailer, the middle axle, right size tire had exploded.

I was so tired I just kept going.....and limped in to Tampa and home at 7:43
pm.
Made it all the way, backed the truck/boat in and then had to unload all the
rock and put it away.....so about 10pm. I got to crash.

Soooo after almost 700 miles, in one day, and diving, I have ROCK again!

Moral of the story?

Ya gotta be crazy to do this!

Second 1/2's will go first then I will start on new orders. And looking at
the weather here, it is going to blow 20-25 knots for another week, so I may
have to have all this fun again next week!

Now I feel 55!

YES I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THE SPRING BREAKERS..... YESTERDAY ON THE FIRST REAL DAY OF SPRING BREAK...THEY ALREADY HAD A SHOOTING ON THE BEACH..... AND ALL THOSE PEOPLE ARE PREVENTING ME FROM DOING MY BEACH EXPLORATION TILL ITS ALL OVER..... GLAD YOU MADE IT HOME IN ONE PIECE AND STILL THE SAME AGE AS WHEN YOU LEFT...LOL

ON A SADDER NOTE I DID SOME RE-AQUASCAPING AND THE TANK CLEARED UP JUST FINE AND THEN THE NEXT MORNING WE WOKE UP TO FIND THE TANK CLOUDY AND 2 FISH DEAD, THE SHRIMP GONE...AND THE SLIPPER LOBSTER AS WELL....WE WERE SO MAD ABOUT "SLIPPY" AS WE LOVINGLY CALLED HIM IT ALMOST PUT US IN TEARS.....
