I'm sure that I have said their names in a half dozen other threads, but...in order of aquisition.
1: Gonodactleus Viridis
"Baron von Munchausen"
I had gone to a LFS to get one, determined to name a big peacock 'Dagon' or some such...I saw a cute little fellow with what looked to be a big mustache...like the BvM from the stories/movies.
2: Gonodactylus Ternatensis
"Baba Yaga"
Like her namesake, a terrible Witch from Russian folklore, Baba Yaga is the eater of many young...snails,that is.
3:Gonodactylus Platysoma
"Glaurung"
A Dragon from JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion (my fave book).
4: Odontodactylus Scyllarus
"Dagon"
My original name choice, a Babylonian Sea Devil/God. Also taken by HP Lovecraft for an monster/Elder God in some of his stories.
5: Neodactylus Wennerae
"Lo Pan"
The Wizard from Big trouble in Little China, one of my fave films.
6: Gonodactylus Chiraga
"Freya"
Norse Goddess, one of my faves. A Right Tart that gives Aphrodite a run for her money in the promiscuous department...
I have also named a hermit (Beauregard) and a peppermint (Mr. Creosote...he has eaten his weight ten times over in aiptasia...Mr creosote is the massive guy who exploded in Monty Python's 'Meaning of Life'.
-Ron
Edit:I sure wrote 'fave' quite a few times...Oh well, I'm leaving them in.
