I have had 2 other cleaner shrimp in my tank and I assume they died for the lack of food. When I feed my fish they eat all of it so I don't have waste in my tank. If I do my hermits, snail, or worms will get to it. I don't want this shrimp to die. Any suggestions?

I don't know what kind of shrimp you have. But I have a coral banded shrimp. When I do feed him which is not often, I take a piece of raw people shrimp from the freezer and he eats a small piece off a dulled skewer.

You may want to test for copper in your tank. Shrimp can't tolerate copper so that could be your problem.

I have no copper in my tank

I have two cleaner shrimp and they eat about anything I throw in the tank. Sometimes I have to target feed the fish to keep the shrimp from getting it. I can't imagine cleaner shrimp starving.

Same here, I have never target fed my cleaner shrimp and he is big and thriving and nearly 2 years old now.

So, I don't really think the shrimp starved to death, it was more than likely water conditions that did them in or a fellow reef creature.

i hand feed my cleaner shrimp about once a week. just a small chunk of whatever im feeding(formula 1, prime reef, etc. i lost a cleaner shrimp before that, not sure if not feeding was the cause, but he didnt get much because i had no fish food waste either.

this ones been allive for 7-8 months now, so far so good.

doesnt take much coaxing, stick my hand in the tank for about 15 seconds, and he finds his dinner rather quickly.
