what do small PJ Cardinals eat?

I just got several small (sub 1") pajama cardinals, and I don't think they've eaten what I've offered in the last 2 days. What should I feed them? I've tried some krill and some arctic pods, tossed in some oyster feast to help entice them; also a couple of flakes - nothing yet. what should I try??:hmm1:

I have a pajama cardinal and he eats whatever I throw in the tank...I use some frozen food, but also use krill (grind it up a bit)...

Give it time...if you put in food and they're hungry, they'll eat.

Tangs are vegetarians and mine eats mysis shrimp, krill, brine shrimp, et....

I would try frozen Hikari mysis and the really small new life spectrum pellets. I've gotten a couple of finicky eaters started on the small-fish NLS pellets.

Brine shrimp is great to get a feeding response (I'm guessing that's why fishfirst is suggesting it) but it's not a good long-term option.

I thought it was the mysis shrimp that had no nutrient value? Am I confusing with brine shrimp?

I'll keep at it - I'm just worried they're so small that they won't last long without food. However, I saw 2 of them nibble at stuff today - it looked like they spat it out, but hopefully they'll eat it when they get a little hungrier.

BTW, mysis has good nutrient value, brine does not (too much shell, not enough body).

Mysis is nutritious, brine isn't.

Have you tried feeding them cyclop-eeze? A lot of small planktivores go nuts for it.

Early on, it seems my cardinals always want something bigger to go after, like mysis. After a while, +1 on everything.

Good suggestions already so I'll add that PJ's are active after lights out and you could try feeding then.

Mine sleeps...finds a nice area to hide...he isn't out at night much at all...
