What do Xenia look like when they multiply?

I remember reading that when Xenia multiply, a branch kind of leans over and attaches to something else. Well I've noticed that my xenia has a bump or something similar growing on the side of its stalk and I'm curious if this is a new "foot" developing and if I should expect it to seperate from the primary foot? Or is it just going to develop a new branch?

I ask because all of my corals in my tank are still attached via rubberbands or ties because I didn't want to permanently attach anything until I've gotten my Anemone. But if my Xenia is going to split, I figure I may take this oppurtunity to attach the stalk where I want it.

Of course this growth could be a bad thing too... so any advice is appreciated. No pictures unfortunetly

it could just develop into a new branch, or it could entirely seperate from the rest of the colony and wander off on its own. just have to wait and see. if it ends up being just a branch, and you really want to relocate it- just snip it off and move it. xenia is very tolerant of pruning and relocating

Sounds good. This is my first saltwater tank and I'm terrified about fraging still. Worried I'm gonna end up killing everything. Plus I'm still not sure where I want to move everything.

I completely understand that you are worried about fragging. Xenia was the first frags that I ever did. Trust me though, when it multiplies you will know. The stuff in the right conditions spreads like weeds. When that starts to happen you wil have no fear in fragging them because they start to overrun your tank and you just want them out.
