What do you put in your water besides Salt? I'm talking about chemicals. Weather it be trace, additives, water treatment, pH buffers, doses of this and that, whatever. I'm just curious about what everyone is using. Some people might not use anything and Id like to hear about that also.

You put NOTHING in your water that you don't test for.

Regular water changes are good enough to replace most things unless you have animals that use a lot of calcium.

I put Liquid calcium in my 55g SW drum when I fill it and make a fresh batch. Other than that the only thing I dose with is Pickleing Lime. And then I dose about 1/2 of a tea spoon mixed very well in a 20oz clean soda bottle. I try to remember to do this once a week, however I admit it's whenever I can remember. I do it because it keeps the purple coraline growing and when I quit I notice that it will slowly turn white.

I only dose food...the calcium reactor has taken of everything else the stonies need. Water changes are your friend for the first year or so until the tank matures.

Monthly water changes, a calcium reactor, and epsom salts because my Mg is always too low.

Well for now I just plain to do my water changes and testing. I just have so little knowledge of this world of saltwater and try to further my knowhow about the little things that can make a big mess if done wrong. I'm trying to get a feel of what everyone is using and why so I know the effect it will make on a tank.

seachem complete(calcium, magnesium, strontium). Seachem carbonate once a week i dose it than once a week for purple up just for the calcium and iodine and 15 gallon water change once every 2 months. Top off water is 10 to 15 gallons a week in my 125 gallon. Run phospate reactor with phosban for 2 weeks and carbon for two weeks only if water shows sign of algae blooms starting up other wise carbon one week out of month.
