What do you consider a 'large' reef tank?

I personally feel any tank that is 6 foot or longer is in that catergory...

say 125g and up...others probably think a 125g is to small to be considered "large",,,but by no means is it a small tank

Interesting.... 6 foot long. I consider large anything 200 and above... it doesn't matter how it's configured then, it's just huge....

I can tell you one thing..... moving my tank took four full grown men (and two of us are two car garages with eyes.... lol). My tank is 150, six foot long, and I don't consider it 'large' but my back is screwed up from moving it!!

i dont look at large based on gallons... to me theres a big difference when looking at a 6 foot long 125g tank and a 4 foot long 120....large tanks to me is when your head literally has to swivel from one side to the other to view the entire tank. thats when it becomes large in my eyes.

a 4 foot tank you can see with minimal movement of the head...

see thats based on gallons again. if my 220g had a 55g sump it wouldnt be considered large in your eyes. but i have a 125g sump, now it turns into a large tank?

If your system had more than 300 gallons I would consider it large. You could have a 100g tank with a 400g sump.

ok, so sean you literally mean large based on gallons? not on size of aquarium?

In my eyes, its not about the glass, its about the water.

40yrs ago I thought a 55 was large...but as I moved up to 75s, 150s and 180, the idea of 'large' kept increasing... Then in 1990 I got my first 8'/300g and this is what I now consider to be a large tank!
My present tank is 8'/ 450g, with 8'/ 200g sump

if the title said large systems, i would agree, but it said large tanks. i took that as the main tank display. and even a 100g with a 400g sump i wouldnt consider large,,,id consider the sump large, but not the 100g tank..

Is that the intent of this thread? If so, I will reserve my opinion. The sump is part of the system why look at that element independently?

+1 ... My LFS runs about ninety 30g tanks off a few hundred gallon sump in the basement ... he does not have a 'large' tank...he has a large system.

you dont think theres a difference if someone asks:

what do you consider a large tank?

and

what do you consider a large system?
