What do you feed your corals

Reef Chili twice a week, but I just purchased Aquaforest Phyto Mix to try so I'll probably stop the Reef Chili for a bit. I feed mostly because of my gorgonians, while they're mostly photosynthetic, I still want to make sure they do really well.

No need to feed. They feed off of your fish food, and waste from the fish.

I feed my coral fish poop. I have close to 30 fish and they get fed 2 times a day to keep them fat and happy. I have reefroids but haven't fed it in months probably. Mostly because I forget.
Do you guys really notice a difference in feeding your corals separately?

Corey

Does anyone use Julian's Thing to feed corals? I ordered one from BRS- should be here tomorrow. Any tips?

Some of us may not have enough of a fish load to satisfy the corals. However, you are correct, given enough nutrients for the fish waste will be sufficient to feed corals......and algae.

It is all about the correct combination of lighting and feeding (kinda one in the same). The problem is, for me anyway, is getting the correct formula. Lights, too much....bleaching....too little browning. I am no expert by any stretch but it just seems that in the deep blue sea both light and and nutrients are needed.

For awhile, I was using Phyto-Plankton and Coral Frenzy.

I would mix one-cap (5ml) with a tiny baby spoon (probably like a pinch) of Coral Frenzy with a little tank water. Then using a turkey baster, squirt it near my Duncan Corals. I got really good polyp extension doing this 2x week.

I have since run out of PhtyoPlankton, but that worked really well for me. I will probably start back up that routine when I get more.

i found the thing very narrow and was unable to clean it . I use regular plastic basters like you get at the turkey cookin store. I found one with a cleaning brush that you can shove all the way thru it.

Has anyone been using reef roids recently or benereef and willing to talk about how it effected their tank??
Thank you!!

I'm in the same boat of feeding when I remember.
Usually once a week. When I do feed I will feed either Reef Chili or Reef-roids.
I'm sure if I fed on a regular basis I might see more growth.

I'm always concerned with the effect on water parameters due to the excess food floating around.

I feed at least three times a day. Ether reef roads, Decapsulated brine or live hatch baby brine. Turn off the pumps and just broadcast feed.

I broadcast feed and occasionally will add a cube of Rotifers or Coral Gumbo to the fish food mixture but it's mostly what they get from the fish food and poop. In addition to the broadcast feeding, once or twice a week ( if I remember) I'll supplement with a feeding of Coral Frenzy or Phyto.
