What do you feed your Reef Tanks?

Hey all,

Just wanted to hear what everybody feeds there fish/reef tanks only, I had a recent algae outbreak and I think some had to do with I am just feeding to much different stuff and I would like to minimize it to just a few things. I thought I have heard of people that feed cyclopeeze flake only on a daily basis and works great for them. Do you feed anything for the corals or just let them pickup anything floating around for the fish. Also, do you turn your main pump off so everything stays in the display, or the heck with it and just let it circulate. Looking for as much detail as you can give me so I can get a good idea of what people are using to feed.

Thanks much,
Clint

I feed Rods food 4x/ wk on my 75, 7x on my 10 (young clowns). On the 75 I put in a small piece of Ocean Nutrition seaweed the other 3 days for my tang and my blenny.

Looks like Rods is winning by a landslide, do you guys all just use the original Rods, cause last time I was at the site there were a bunch of different kinds. Also, do you feed at any specific times, night or day or it doesn't matter.

I alternate between Original and the Herbivore blend. I usually feed earlier in the day and again just before lights out. HTH's

120g and 24g... Rod's food only on the 120 (quarter size) everyday... alternate between Rod's food and flake in the 24g.

Most of you turning your pumps off, or just leaving them on. Not the circulation pumps, but the main pump.

Rod's ~3x/week
Nori sheet ~2x/week
Spectrum Pellets ~2x/wk
MYSIS ~1-2/week

System specs in signature below.

I used to turn my pumps and skimmer off but don't anymore. I have a feed button but I don't use it. Not too much makes it to the over flow ;)

That's it? Stop being such a cheap skate and feed those fish.

Between my 40gal and 120gal I go through 2 to 2.5 packs of Rod's a month.

I go by the instructions given to me straight from the horses mouth ;)

Actually, just last week Rod was telling me that I might want to start using the Herbivore blend... that you like it quite a bit. I might give it a try.

I love it so much I don't feed Nori any more. It's great stuff!

The word around town is that Rod will be introducing his very own dried Seaweed soon. It's different than regular nori sheets that you find most often.

I've been lucky enough to try it out and I can say that my tangs go ape doodie for the stuff. ;)

Yes, he was telling me about that as well... said something about wrapping around PVC rather than clipping it. I might have to give that a try as well!

Rod's and McDonalds chicken nuggets

The diversity in ingredients between these may be similar, but with Rod's Food, you get an ingredients list so you know exactly what you're getting.
