What do you grow in the shadows?

In effort to maximize what little space I have left in my tanks...I'm curious what people grow in the shadows. Not a super dark area, but one that is someone under a ledge and gets indirect light, or one that is under a tabling acro or similar. Any ideas?

Sun coral might be a possibility, though it's not easy.
Also the shelving montipora actually colors better in shade: I have a purple-border that's trying to have a green center, but the light is a bit much.

I wouldnt say sun corals aren't easy, their only requirement is meat. that can clash with a sps system which is trying to be nutrient poor, but they are beautiful.

I grow lords ,acan subs, blasto merlite, blasto wellis, echno's and a few other lps :D

interesting, I always though there were more light demanding. How well do they do in the shade for you, I may have to try some out

This is the most recent pic. You can see most of my lps . The PBT is in front of a large lord colony thats under the cap and I have some more melite on the left side behind the anthias.

I also have more in there than that pic shows. I was still in the process of moving my all my cooler lps back into the tank after I reaquascaped it.

All of them do great and my echnos grow like weeds.

yep, some deepwater. Mostly LPS, though.

Yeah, I'm currently testing an A. jaq... under a ledge, and it's coloring up quite a bit when compared to full lighting. I may try some lps as well...how are they with coral wars?

sub ech's will destroy anything that touches them ,Lords loose to acros, echnos and merlite do good together. JME

I have had a small blasto literally in the dark having fallen to a viewable but irretrievable spot. It is doing great. For what it's worth.

I have a green Poci n one of my lower light areas, a frogspawn, bubble coral, cup/turbinaria, Acanastrea.

I also have some Rics and Zoanthids in my tank, mainly around the bottom to avoid them overgrowing the rockwork.

I think I'll stay away from shrooms in my tank. Many years ago I tried to put them in a decently sized (80g) tank with sps and they took over.

I was thinking about a poci. but aren't they also overly aggresive? I've heard they can spread as well and take root in other places in the tank (though I've never experienced this, it may be cool, but I don't want a poci rooting next to my PM or oregon tort etc.).

Tubinaria is an idea...maybe I'll try one...though I'll have to do some major pruining on it since the area I have is small. Maybe it's time for some lps...
